The NFL announced two games for the Week 18 schedule on Sunday night, and they didn’t do the Jacksonville Jaguars any favors.
In Week 18 on Saturday at 4:30 pm ET, the 13-3 Kansas City Chiefs will visit the 6-10 Las Vegas Raiders. Saturday night’s premier game at 8:15 pm ET will be between the Tennessee Titans and Jaguars.
Why does it stink for jaguars? It all comes down to the holidays.
The Titans played a Thursday night game in Week 17, so they were always going to benefit from the Jags’ three-day layoff before their Week 18 matchup.
But the NFL robbed the Jags of an extra day of rest and preparation by putting them on a shortened week.
The Titans will have eight full days off between games, while the Jags will only have five. Teams typically get six days off between games.
Considering the Week 18 showdown is for the AFC South, they’re hoping the league will allow the Jags to have a regular off week instead of putting them on a short week.
But they didn’t do anything. Instead, the league knew the game would attract more viewers, so they put it on a Saturday night in prime time.
Another game that would be great for Saturday night is the Packers-Lions game.
But the league didn’t want that on Saturday because a Packers win would take the drama out of the Seahawks game a day later.
