INDIANAPOLIS — Tony Dungy was mocked on Twitter for his response to a Minnesota state bill requiring menstrual products in boys’ schools Wednesday morning.
“That’s okay,” the former Indianapolis Colts coach tweeted at 9:38 a.m. Wednesday. “Some school districts are placing litter boxes in the school bathroom for students who identify as cats. It’s important to meet the needs of each student.”
By 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dungy had deleted the cat litter tweet in response to A. Daily Wire Video Minnesota State Rep. Sandra Feist is pictured endorsing period items in a boys’ school bathroom.
“We make sure students have toilet paper, paper towels, soap and Band-Aids,” Feist said in a video to the House Education Policy Committee last week. They are women.”
The cat litter sparked some outrage as the cat litter “legend” was debunked after it was circulated months ago by politically conservative types opposed to LGBTQ+ rights and gender non-conformity.
Indystar reached out to Dungy, but did not immediately receive a response.
Dungy, an NFL Hall of Famer and Super Bowl champion who is now a television commentator, is known for his Christian faith and often conservative views, particularly on social values. His latest tweet has nearly 140,000 views and many reactions.

Dungy, an adoption and foster care advocate and national spokesperson for All Pro Dad, a fatherhood program that helps men lead their families, told IndyStar in 2018, “Having a mom and a dad in the picture is the best way to raise kids.
“That’s how God designed the family,” Dungy said.
