The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin on war crimes charges.
In his statement ICC:
Mr. Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, born on October 7, 1952, is the President of the Russian Federation and is said to be responsible for the war crimes of illegal displacement of people (children) and their transfer to Russians from occupied areas of Ukraine. Federation (under Articles 8(2)(a)(vii) and 8(2)(b)(viii) of the Rome Convention). The crimes were committed in territory occupied by Ukraine at least since February 24, 2022.
There are reasonable grounds to believe that Mr. Putin bears individual criminal responsibility for the above-mentioned crimes, (i) because he committed the acts directly with others and/or through others (Article 25(3)(a) of the Rome Convention); and (ii) his failure to exercise proper control over his subordinates, civil and military, who committed the act or authorized his commission, and over those under his effective authority and control under his superior responsibility (Article 28(b)). Treaty of Rome).
Sarah Jones discusses Russian war crimes and Republican threats to national security in the latest Political Pod:
Maga’s reaction to the news that their hero Putin is a wanted war criminal has become cricket.
While Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene espouses Biden’s conspiracy theories and supports 1/6 domestic terrorists, Donald Trump has said nothing from the dark underbelly of the Internet.
MAGA has aligned itself with a war criminal who commits crimes against children. The international arrest warrant means that Putin will be even more isolated because going to a country that is part of the ICC treaty means being arrested.
Putin is a wanted war criminal and MAGA’s support for him means they are enabling crimes against children.
