The special counsel is investigating Trump’s fundraising from the Big Lie, and now they’re reporting that the Trump campaign paid for that fake election fraud.
According to the Washington Post:
The “Project 2020” report by the Berkeley Research Group has now been found by prosecutors investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol. A copy was reviewed by The Washington Post, which shows that the Trump campaign paid more than $600,000 for the research, including many of the most explosive claims. The study has never been made public.
The Justice Department has obtained dozens of reports, emails and interviews analyzing campaign officials and often testifying that Trump has been publicly available, several people involved in the investigation say, as others have said. Anonymity to reveal internal details. Berkeley’s report was submitted to the Justice Department earlier this month, one of the people said, after some people involved in the craft received subpoenas.
The report is important because it shows that Donald Trump knows there was no election fraud. However, he continued to collect money from claims of electoral fraud. Those Big Lies were an act of fraud.
Jack Smith is investigating where Trump spent his donations and whether the money was sent to real vendors or a failed predecessor. The president pocketed the money.
If Trump raised money based on lies and pocketed that money, he committed a crime. Trump’s campaign spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on a report disproving his lies, the same report that could impeach Donald Trump.
