According to MSNBC’s Jane Psaki, Trump should be held to the same legal standard as Pentagon leaker Jack Teixeira.

But you know what is another bad aspect? A 76-year-old former president is suspected of doing much the same thing. This week, the New York Times revealed that a special counsel on the Mar-a-Lago documents case is investigating whether former President Trump showed aides and visitors the map he took with him when he left office. We don’t know what’s missing from this map, but it still follows a similar report from the Washington Post that investigators are looking into whether Trump shared classified documents with political donors.
Perhaps to show them too, and that coming after the post, the FBI revealed it had access to highly classified nuclear secrets, who knows who exactly shared or shared what or how much information at Mar-a-Lago to a foreign country? With whom, we don’t know that yet. Obviously there’s a lot we don’t know, but even at this point, it all begs the question of whether Donald Trump is on the same level as the 21-year-old Air National Guard.
Trump should be held to the same standard as the 21-year-old Laker. He is an almost 80-year-old ex-president, not a 21-year-old. The nation has a clear picture of Jack Teixeira’s doings, but it’s still unclear why Trump took the classified documents or what he was doing at his private club in Florida.
The law is the law and should be applied equally. Jack Teixeira is likely to be charged with multiple crimes, and faces prison time if convicted. There is no reason other than age why the same thing shouldn’t happen to Donald Trump.
