The Senate Judiciary Committee has invited Supreme Court Justice John Roberts to testify at a May 2 hearing on the court’s ethics issues.
The Senate Judiciary Committee tweeted:
break @Senator Durbin He formally invited Chief Justice Roberts to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 2.
This follows an unacceptable display of justice that falls below the moral standards expected of the American people.

The Senate Judiciary Committee has written a letter to Chief Justice John Roberts and warned him that SCOTUS must clean up its ethics problems. aka Thomas, Alito, Kavanaugh and Coney Barrett, or the Senate will be involved.
Nothing happened in the Supreme Court, so the hearing is the first step for the Senate to take action.
Considering what Clarence Thomas did, the Supreme Court urgently needs an independent panel to conduct ethics regulation and oversight. Passing ethics rules for SCOTUS, but allowing the current corrupt group of conservative judges to police themselves, is a terrible idea.
Getting a Supreme Court ethics bill through the Senate may be an impossible challenge, but something must be tried, and a series of hearings on ethics problems will help bring attention and pressure Roberts to act.
The hearing won’t solve the problem, but it’s a start. Chief Justice Roberts will certainly refuse to testify, and if he refuses to appear and answer questions, it will make the need for ethics reform in the Supreme Court even more urgent.
