Jean-Pierre said, “While President Biden is fighting to clean up toxic pollution and lower costs with the Clean Energy Tax Credit, Speaker McCarthy has released a ransom note that holds our economy hostage. It’s a 320-page plan to kill jobs, fill our cities with smog, and give our children asthma. The proposal would also repeal the Green Energy Tax Credits Act, which would send thousands of jobs to China. It’s easy for oil companies to use toxic chemicals that cause severe burns, damage people’s eyes, and melt bones.

McCarthy is trying to get Biden to negotiate with him on the debt limit. But the White House’s response to the bill was a loud and emphatic no.
The response to the legislation is that McCarthy wants to kill jobs, give children asthma, and melt bones to ransom the country, suggesting there is no compromise.
