Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) made it clear that the abortion bans in red states are not individual decisions, but part of a concerted Republican plan to eliminate health care freedom.

When asked by CNN’s Jim Acosta about the Supreme Court’s decision to ban the abortion pill, Smith said:
I see everyday women making good decisions about their own health care, and I don’t need politicians to figure out what to do for people in abortion states, liberty is still preserved. You can find out if you can still get abortion pills for now.
But your article before I came showed that women in states across the country are losing that access. And this is not happening now. This is part of a concerted campaign by the Republican Party to take away freedom and I worked at Planet Parenthood looking at the long-term effort to ban abortion and that’s what we’re really seeing and states across the country and I think that’s We will see if they have a vote at the federal level.
Abortion is a freedom issue. Republicans are trying to strip the majority of the American people of their freedom to control their own bodies and make health care decisions. Every American who values individual liberty should be outraged by what the Republicans are doing.
These bans are not isolated decisions being made by state governments. The bans are a concerted campaign to undermine abortion in the United States. Senel Smith was right. If Republicans controlled the government, they would ban abortion.
The media tends to treat theft as an individual act, but they need to look at the bigger picture. If Americans want to remain free, they must stop those bent on destroying individual liberties.
