In the year In 2018, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) omitted key information from the committee’s report that cleared Brett Kavanagh of sexual assault allegations against him.

The Senate report said Cavanaugh was the victim of mistaken identity in the Deborah Ramirez case, but The Guardian said the man accused of Ramirez’s assault was a high school senior who was not at Yale at the time.

By: The Guardian:

Instead, Smith had a classmate named Jack Maxey, a member of Kavanaugh’s fraternity, who allegedly had a “reputation” for exposing himself and did so at a party. To back up his claim, Smith attached a photo of Maxey exposing himself in the fraternity’s 1988 yearbook picture.

The allegation that Ramirez was wrong was included in the Senate committee’s final report, even though Maxey — who was described but not named — was not at Yale when the incident occurred.

Brett Kavanagh is the fruit of a botched verification process. The FBI has since stated that the investigation into sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh was a sham. He instructed the Trump White House to pass on tips about Kavanaugh’s behavior to the FBI.

The Supreme Court’s conservative majority has been rocked by allegations of corruption and misconduct, including among judges. ThomasAlito et al Gorsuch

However, corruption is not limited to judges on the Supreme Court bench. Senate Republicans appear to have botched the confirmation process to confirm Brett Cavanaugh.

Republicans have proven to be a toxic party, tearing down institutions and fighting for partisan political gain.
