Representative Jamie Raskin responded to the Republican’s claim that we are investigating Biden’s involvement in the bribery scheme by looking to Russia and Rudy Giuliani.
“Committee Republicans are recycling unsubstantiated claims floated by Senate Republicans about a June 2020 tip to the FBI asking for the release of an anonymous informant,” Raskin said in a statement to PoliticusUSA. Around the same time, Rudy Giuliani and Russian agents were peddling false information under Trump’s Treasury Department sanctions aimed at interfering in the 2020 presidential election. Given Chairman Comer’s determination to ‘dismantle’ the FBI, it’s no wonder he’s relying on these unproven recommendations to attack President Biden in yet another baseless partisan move.
In Ukraine, Giuliani was fed Russian disinformation about Biden by a Russian agent. Some of the false information is now being floated by congressional Republicans like Gresley and Comer in connection with Biden’s bribery allegations.
Trump’s first impeachment was accused of trying to seize Ukraine by withholding military aid appropriated by Congress to force the country to interfere in the 2020 election.
Trump loyalists are recycling the same Russian disinformation and lies about Biden to hurt the incumbent president before he reunites with Trump.
Republicans have been scrutinizing Biden since they took control of the House. They didn’t get anything, so from 2020 they are going back to washing the Russian lies and trying to do it again in the scandal for 2024.
