Trump’s past behavior and statements served as closing arguments for E.J. Carroll’s attorneys in their civil rape lawsuit against the former president.
During closing arguments in a civil trial on Carroll’s rape and defamation claims, attorney Roberta Kaplan said the hot microphone tapes showed Trump describing his “standard operating procedure” of kissing women without their consent and sometimes grabbing their genitals.
“He admitted on video that he did the exact same things that brought us to this court,” Kaplan told jurors in Manhattan federal court.
“When you’re a star, they let you do it,” Trump is heard saying in the video.
“He thinks stars like him can get away with it,” Kaplan said. He thinks he can escape here.
